    Semiconductor Consolidation

There is a "Sale" happening now in the semiconductor industry.

The semiconductor industry is in a big slump and most of the companies valuations are depressed as a result. The weaker companies have collapsed while others have held their own and continue to exist. I think that the companies with the strongest balance sheets will "survive the storm" (ie. LSI, MRVL, Nvda) and will begin acquiring the weaker companies (for revenue growth and/or IP, etc.) causing a consolidation within the industry. We have already seen a few examples of this. Furthermore, we may see some of the non-Chinese semis buy Chinese semis to gain a piece of the Chinese market. Again, there are some examples of this.

Crazy thought. MRVL is in the dumps and needs a catalyst. MRVL purchases LSI??

    • Yes I definitely agree that MRVL could acquire LSI and should. I don't believe there is a monopoly there at all with controllers. There is other competition. However, the catalyst would be for the acquired in my opinion but in this case MRVL could rise as well.
