Not one analyst comment re ELN

Amazing.....before the FDA AC meeting all these waal street bozo analysts putting out reports on ELN saying Ty going nowhere....odds 50 or 75% of approval...etc etc.

Now we get an incredibly favorable FDA outcome and not one analyst comment. The BIIB analysts were out in force with a gigantic set of upgrades on the Ty news....but analysts covering ELN...NOT A WORD. It is one of the most lame things I have ever seen. The FDA outocme was one of the most important things to happen to ELN in the last year....and NOT A WORD from analysts.

    • Nobody wants to be the first to upgrade Elan, only to have their projections trumped the very next day by whoever upgrades next. It's a catch 22. One thing is certain. All the analysts are feverishly re-crunching their numbers right now.

The daytraders really saved us this week, by stepping in for the missing-in-action institutional money. But wait till next week when this financial force--which dwarfs everyone else--starts to step in and compete with the shorts for shares. I am VERY optimistic. We always have a surge of "mystery buying" right when the people on this YMB talk as if it's the end of the world.

Too busy to think of ways to spin things and cover their own behinds. Business as usual at Wall Street.

    • I think that points out a weakness in ELN. Perhaps ELN should work on cultivating relationships with some analysts. We can say all we want about how stupid and crooked they are but, if they are on our side they can be useful.

    • they will wait until official from FDA--they don't want to be premature & get caught with pants down.

    • Actually, a lot of analysts (Goodbody - Ian Hunter, PJ, Merrill, Deutsche, etc.) commented and updated their ratings. The thing is, most didn't change much because they had already assumed approval, and nothing changed in the earnings outlook. Most are still looking for 500-800 million in worldwide sales by 2008 or 2009, split between Elan and BIIB. The same thing will apply on FDA approval. Elan won't really soar unless and until big sales start coming in - tysabri penetration well over 10% of the market (which could happen).

    • There is the old saying "Those that can't do......teach". In other words if these analysts were truly gifted in knowing the directions of stocks they would be "traders" & very rich to boot.
They cannot consistantly make good calls & thus work for companies making guesses as to which way the stocks will turn. Investors & traders unfortunately listen to these people & thus the stocks go up & down influenced by analysts recommendations. Sad but true. These are short-term movements & usually have no relationship to the true value & future of the companies.
ELN has the science ( MS,AD,Nano etc )& with TY returning it has a strong base to continue developing its pipeline. Kelly M. is an excellent manager too.
I will hold it as a core holding in my IRA. I was in at less than $2, rode it to $30, then back to $3+. What a wild ride.....
      CHEERS to fellow longs.

      • I rate analysts lower then used care salesmen, real estate agents, and telemarketers. They hype the stocks their frims have a position in and of course no matter what you hold you should sell. I remember when I retired several years ago 2 Piper salesreps met with me and I paid for their coffee while we talked at a Culver's. They of course wanted to know my net worth and sell my company stock and when I asked them what I should buy. Guess what stock they recommended? LUCENT!!!!!!!! TRUE STORY AND THANK GOONESS I DIDN'T TAKE THEIR ADVICE!!!!! I'm still pi__ed to this day that I paid for their coffee. From that day forward I know if I spent time doing my own research, I would do better on my own then relying on an investment firm. I do my own online trading through my account with Fidelity which I highly recommend.

    • KM burned too many bridges.
      Ask okz.

    • of course not, most analysts told their hedgefund managers to short this stock. The analysts will nor recommend ELN at this time till the options expires. Look at the analysts who recommended DANA CORP. 12 hours before DCN filed for BK , what a stupid f22k

    • good and accurate post.-bucko

    • The sad thing is they many upgraded BIIB because of TYs return. How can it be a bonus for BIIB and not ELN? But in the end I believe we will get our last laugh.
