On CBS news last night they had a piece on alz research. The doctor pretty much stated that they know what causes alz beta-amyloid build up in the brain causing it to shrink and hence the memory deterioration and eventually death. The issue the researchers are having in theirt phase II, III trials is getting volunteers to be the "guinea" (sp?) pigs for these tests. There is a severve shortage of volunteers. But the thing that interested me the most was that the focus of the research is to eliminate/reduce/prevent the beta-amyloid protein in the brain. This is what BAP is all about. so I am hoping for some great news from the phase III study from Elan in July. Even some positives on BAP should cause this to explode.
Eln being a Irish company and a member of the EU is the reason for the instability. As you know the PIIGS (Portugal Ireland Italy Greece Spain) are all in economic distress especially Greece. Hence the drag on the stock. If the EU were strong I am positive the pps of ELN would be far into the high teens or low 20's.
