Nice writeup Bill. You outlined some of the reasons why I live in california. The weather, the weather, Silicon Valley, it's pretty.
This is despite the fact that we have the 2nd highest Electricity rates in the US [second only to Hawaii]; 9% state tax; 8.5% Sales tax; a marxist as the Governor; a down-right ridiculously left-wing legislature; bad traffic; sky-high real-estate prices.....
We gotcha beat in Rhode Island. 11.5 cents per kwh for elect, 9.9% income tax, second highest gas tax, 7% sales tax, a career civil service (lazy) governor, and, most of all, corruption, from top to bottom, front to back, from the legislature to the unions, a convicted felon as mayor of providence under indictment again for felonies. WE HAVE THE MOST CORRUPT STATE IN THE NATION!!!! Yea, RI!!!
But, I love RI. Newport, Middletown, Jamestown, Wickford.....all quaint New England towns overlooking fantastic harbors....Beaches are super also! And the natives are soooo friendly. I only live one hour away from this corrupt state and I enjoy it to the fullest without paying the taxes!Thank you!
Not to rain on your California parade as it is a beautiful state, but it sure has some ugly places, fortunately, that's where most of the population resides. The majority of the state, where there aren't so many people, is where the beauty is, from the redwoods to Death Valley to Tahoe, more than pretty. Arizona has similar contrasts, and we have the people piled up in just a few areas, leaving the rest of the state to be enjoyed, sans populous. Regards, looks like a good day for Elan, AZ
