I think its a fair question, and I think the answer is yes, of course Bill Miller is in the running too. Ken Heebner is the absolute worst. He grabs wrong sectors, makes dumb mistakes, doesn't understand at all whats going on out there...check out how he missed the minerals run...this guy is a drastic underperformer. He is truely the worst, so pathetic.
People who invested with Heebner 20 years ago retired probably early, very early, and dont bother with message boards like these. I wish they did though.
from the linked article:
"Be patient. Even the best managers are likely to go through long periods of poor performance. A study last year by Baird Advisory Services found that top stock pickers often lagged comparable funds for three-year periods, while still ending up with above-average 10-year track records.
"Most managers will go through periods when they look stupid," says Baird's Timothy Byrne. To succeed with active funds, you have to have some tolerance for failure. "
Great retort Keith. I am willing to let CGMFX and RX ride with Heebner until the end of the year. Maybe longer. But I must admit I am getting antsy. So far this year, if you add in my oil/gas picks I am stomping Heebner and the total market index. But as we all know that could be ephemeral and pure luck. My question to you is: How much longer are YOU willing to ride the Heebner ship during these times when he underperforms?
