Maybe the negotiation is over buying the software, or the part of the comany that is just involved in car rental. That could take some time to negotiate. The price, who stays, who runs what is left, etc. As some have said before, why doesn't Avis just buy them and spin out the parts they don't want.

Why bother? Why doesn't Avis just take what they want and take their chances in court. I don't think IDSY patents are that strong nor do I think IDSY has the resources to wage a legal battle. Avis is in a very strong negotiating position. IDSY consistently loses money. Without Avis, IDSY is dead meat.
