    "Tis a Puzzlement

To borrow a line from "The King and I," 'Tis a Puzzlement.

stockmanjohn/maplecherrypie, the brain addled Paul Revere of the ENTR board spends 24/7 basically posting, "the shorts are coming, the shorts are coming!"

Yet, the data shows the shorts are leaving. On 7/31, short interest stood at 11.1 MM shares, and on 8/15 it was 10.6 MM, a drop of 4.7%.

Put another way, over a two week period, shorts were net buyers of 500,000 shares. If, as stockmanjohn/maplecherrypie would have us believe, longs were piling on, there should have been a nice jump in price.

Here's the puzzlement. During the period that shorts were net BUYERS of 500,000 shares, the price dropped from $6 to $5.78.

To borrow from Ricky Ricardo, "stockmanjohn/maplecherrypie, you've got some 'splaining to do!" If shorts were buying, who were the sellers that drove the price down 3.5%?

    • Are you completely and totally OBLIVIOUS to the HFT Algos that now reign the markets? Your observations are correct, but your conclusions are 180 degrees off. WAKE UP and PUT DOWN THAT DM CRACK PIPE! You're about to miss a HUGE move UP and no one here is going to mind hearing you go POP as your oversized head explodes.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

      • I am curious. Do you use a high frequency algorithm when you trade?

Here's a concept that would make your head explode, except for the fact that your cranial chamber is largely empty.

When more people are selling than buying the price goes down. It doesn't matter whether those trades were made by a computer using a high frequency algorithm, an on-line investor or someone on the phone with a broker. That's simple Stock Market 101

Please show me that you aren't a complete fool by stating my conclusions that were 180 degress off.

Also, explain how I am going to miss a "HUGE move UP" when I own a call position.

        Sentiment: Buy
