But why doesnt this company get into the surveillance and security business?
Guess again chumpz! (thru Verimatrix they just did)
"To optimize the security architecture, Entropic embedded on its SoC hardware a robust, software-based content protection platform from Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-network, multi-screen digital TV services around the globe. Using Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS(TM)) and ViewRight(R) STB security solution, the LG CNS device offers a proven solution to protecting Pay-TV operator content.
"Although the rapid growth of two-way, IPTV networks has expanded the world of consumer entertainment and interactivity, it has also opened up a new world of potential programming theft and content piracy," said Petr Peterka, chief technology officer, Verimatrix. "We worked closely with Entropic to enhance revenue security on their STB SoC and ensure LG CNS can offer a product that alleviates any security concerns."
I think the previous question posted to the board was why doesn't ENTR get into home security business, ADT etc. Not network/content security or securing the content on the set top etc. That press release doesn't speak of home monitoring systems, it refers to securing data transmitted over the set top box SoC.
The question posed to this board many times was why weren't home security providers thinking of MoCA? Using existing coax networks a home security system would seem to be a perfect solutions for the use of MoCA. Why rewire the house when the medium already is built in?
