Quiksilver Inc. (ZQK, $2.79, +$0.23, +8.98%) gained, surpassing peers, as Wall Street Strategies said there's renewed chatter that Computer giant Apple(AAPL, $202.67, -$0.37, -1.54%) will make a takeover bid. The belief comes after Ford Motor Company (F, $10.78, +$0.06, +1.56%) mentioned in a conference call that Nike Inc. (NKE, $56.30, +$0.85, +1.53%) is taking action in the children sportswear market, the firm said. It added a takeover would make sense for Quiksilver to gain new distribution. Meanwhile, Crowell, Weedon & Co. said onlookers should note that Quiksilver is gaining after shares of sporting goods stocks climbed this week. It added the environment is better for consumer apparel stocks and there is some investment interest as business has bottomed.
