    • Well Davita owns 10% of NXTM and had purchased this for $10/share . This was sometime between 2007- 2008.
Personally I think there is something going on between fresenius and Nextstage. Fresenius decided to start using Nxstage machines in nov 2009 , but for some reason there is no mention of it by Nextstage. Specially since fresenius is the largest dialysis provider in USA and partenering with them and Davita basically gives NXTM 100% of the home dialysis market . Strange. I would not be surprised if Fresenius buys them out, cause this is v much in line with their buisness. This is my own gut feel . Do your own D&D

    • RE: A lot of things can happen between now and then including changes to that healthcare law. Since NXTM's equipment for home dialysis reduces costs for the clinics, it is still the way for better profits for the clinics. So lower reimbursements in 2012 or beyond dictate even more that clinics get as many patients as possible on home dialysis.

It makes sense but not sure if logic prevails - I expect to have an answer by early next week.

Below is a poll that shows the impact of the bundled payment - interesting

Have you/your dialysis company scaled back plans to expand or buy other clinics because of the potential impact of the ESRD payment bundle?

You can make the argument that this favors home care but you need to have the medical staff make the recommendation and as far as I can tell there won't be a tidal swell to do this come Jan. Even if there is a push to home care this would really cause a backlog for the staff to provide training.

What makes sense to me is eventually one of the major Dialysis seeks to acquire outright or a % in NXTM. Long term NXTM is the future of cost containment and patient care for those that can take have the ability to be at home. The question however is does this affect growth and the bottom line.

    • rklev4, I imagine racharsh can help you with your questions and links to articles you have searched, but my reading comprehension is good. Assuming it is valid the reporteronline link talks about 2012 for dialysis fee reductions. A lot of things can happen between now and then including changes to that healthcare law. Since NXTM's equipment for home dialysis reduces costs for the clinics, it is still the way for better profits for the clinics. So lower reimbursements in 2012 or beyond dictate even more that clinics get as many patients as possible on home dialysis. Have you thought about that?

    • I don't know if this is the article, but this link may work to a 4/23/2010 article on the subject.
