    New dialyzer

I have been a FMS patient for 3 years, and have been using NxStage at home for the past 15 months. If FMS stops using NxStage I will be changing providers.

Key disadvantages to the Baby-K: requires separate water treatment/plumbing; requires separate/dedicated power; more complex setup; more difficult maintenance.

    • I work for FMS and there is has been increased training for staff on nextstage machines. I do not see any reason for them to switch patients to K machines. They are happy offering both to all patients.

      • Thank you for that info Racharsh.

Do you see more adoption of home hemodialysis in the near future?

It seems like there was a spike in peritoneal dialysis in recent years. From what I understand, PD patients only have a limited time that they can do PD bc the lining of the stomach only acts as an adequate filter for so long.

Do you think some of your PD patients at FMS will switch to home hemo when PD is no longer available to them? Or wil most/all just go to in center hemodialysis, 3 days a week, standard therapy?
