I admit that I'm lucky to have owned ISRG stock since the company took over Computer Motion (yes, I was on the wrong horse, but on the right end of the trade). I'm not recommending that anyone buy in at this price level.
However, at various times in the past I did suggest to a few of my friends and family members that they should look into Intuitive. Nearly all weren't interested (my winning personality, perhaps). A lot of overlap, here, but some weren't because it was too speculative; some because the company wasn't making a profit yet; some because the stock had risen too fast already and would surely pull back; some because the P/E was outrageous high. Let's just say that, in the end, I know of only one that bought Intuitive and still owns it.
I was surprised Intuitive was never swallowed by one of the big guys sometime along the way. They probably didn't buy it for the same reasons. Fish, I agree with you, the valuation is too high, it always has been.
