3 pirates in a rowboat standown the $250 billion U.S. Navy. What a joke.
I am relieved to know that our President has the experience necessary in dealing with international matters such as this. LOL
Personally, I would have paid their demands, got the capitan back, and then launched a military campaign to root out and destroy all pirates in the region, which would include going back into Somalia and squashing the corrupt under the US bootheel. These are the most active terrorists in the world. Of course, we are over commited in Iraq so we cant spare the personnel of funds to do that. All things considered, this crisis was handled very well. We could have saved a lot of money by just blasting that lifeboat to splinters, but I am glad to see we valued the capitan's life more than that.
Didn't you read, it took 2 requests to even get the go, from the Prez as per the media. Think we could have gotten the go to invade Somalia, we've been there, our fine US Army, and Marines. You saw how that went due to Political constraints("Blackhawk Down" ever see it?)
just think about all the logistics expences to send there all the international navy/air force etc. i admire my country to stan behind on rescue of every citizen. but we could just wipe out the nest of pirates in a single vacuum bomb drop. most likely these moneys are finding the way back and being laundriied. there is always a reason.
