Assuming most realize the dire straights of our financial system, what can be done to fix it? I'm fearing 10 years from now we will be looking at Dow 8k and remembering the good times.
I'm afraid that the only thing that would really fix it is another World War!World War II solved the last world economic depression. The pot has to be stirred up once in a while these days.
WWII didn't SOLVE the great depression. What it did do was put America in the place of leadership. We came out the strongest overall and a superpower. It recreated our industrial base which empowered us. But the great depression was long over by the time WWII came along. Things were just not booming yet.
We need another bubble of some sort to restore a sense of false-prosperity to American investors so they can fuel another false recovery so we can watch the bubble pop and start blowing another one.Either that or people are going to have to go back to work earning an honest living day in, day out. But that isn't likely to happen so keep an eye open for the next great bubble.
