It's not good news, we all know that. We know that the effects are going to be widespread, not limited to just GM. How will it effect the market tomorrow? Will things go lower or will it just be brushed off? I can't believe that people say "better than expected" and things go UP. At the very least, things should stay the same, not go up. The American financial system is a SHAM. It's all paper, manipulation, and fraud.
Priced in, not as bad as could have been, now this will be behind us, Chrysler is almost through pre-packaged so the process is demonstrated for GM, bond holders got more than original offer/proposal, govt can let GM focus on rebuilding, etc....
Come on folks, you know the spin and drill for this...besides, this weekend there were green shoots turning to flowers in all major areas of the country! It's spring!
Actually, I do believe the worst of the economic downturn is in the rear view mirror, but certianly there are a few potholes in the road ahead.
Why should it effect the market when all this news was apparent last Friday and we had a spike at the end of the day.The only way this market goes down is if North Korea threats are not just idle ones.
I think it's largely priced in. Also Dow is a price based index, GM has almost no weight at all. The following stocks may replace GM in dow: CSCO, AAPL, GOOG, ABTT, HON, QCOM, AMZN. These are good stocks, dow might be lifted by the new blood.
