SCIMED acquired through Schneider a poor man's
Beta system using Strontium 90 and an initial clinical
trial that had results so poor that it has to be
redone. If you look at your clinical data, which you
obviously have not, the "candy wrapper" or edge effect only
seems to occur with Beta systems. Novoste presented 17%
restenosis with the Bert trial at the AHA meeting, but if
you add in same vessel restenosis it becomes 24.6%
(in Benestent lesions). What is the difference
between that and a stent (i.e. 20-30% restenosis rates)?
Company earnings will be in line with estimates
and we will move onward and upward from there. Don't
believe the doom and gloom posters they don't know what
they are talking about. They probably are attorneys -
This stock was reccommended to me so I looked it
up and I'm not touching it...the same thing that is
happening now happended at Cendant back in April and the
stock hasn't come close to recovering...all the longs
took big losses and the big funds won't go near it.
Its definitely going to go down some more, how much
is the million dollar question, or hundred dollar
question depending on how you look at it.
I kinda agree with you on the hope that this is
an isolated issue. As we all know that the street
does not like that for sure. My concerns is - how far
and how soon BSX has to go to get ride of that

My focus is on STNEWO7's concern that the
irregularities in Japan will permeate the rest of the company.
If you look at my previous post I argue why I
believe that the irregularities are isolated to Japan.
That is the focus of my post, not whether the Japanese
franchise is a "powerhouse."
will spread to some other BSX division or even
the entire company. Even though you as well as I are
speculating, to conclude that it will spread equates to a
complete misunderstanding of BSX. You must realize that
BSX has grown dramatically through acquisitions over
the past 4 years, starting with its acquisition of
SCIMED in 1994. In particular, BSX built a powerhouse
operation in Japan. The one downside of growth was the lack
of systems and controls required to monitor the
The problem is isolated to Japan because
Japan uses a multitiered distribution system that is
unlike any other country in the world. Even though BSX
has a strong direct operation in Japan, it does not
control the ulimate relationship with the physician, That
is the role of the subdealer network. BSX sells to a
network of dealers who then sell to the physician.
It is the dealer network that played heavily into
the accounting irregularities.
there is incredible uncertainty with BSX. Moreover,
within the last 12 months we lived with the horror
stories of SOC and CD. With the uncertainty is fear.
There are class actions pending. The SOX was recalled.
What else can go wrong. That's why you have to take
what is said on this board with a grain a salt. That
includes what I say. However, when I say something, I say
it based on the best information available. Others
on this board play on fear. Whatever may happen, I
say BSX has bottomed as long as the market as a whole
doesn't tank, i.e., drop back to 7400.
Once you say that you had some sort account
iregularity issue - that's just a start. BSX might have hire
someone to check that division completely. As we all know
you can always find something which are not perfect,
then what - probably it will spread to some other
divisions or the whole BSX. Account iregularity is not/will
not be treated as an honest mistake. It is always
criminal record down the Street. Let's wait and see.
