Sure hope so. All my 2010 portfolio gains are now gone, and most of my holdings are dividend payers, which makes it all the worse for growth holders. Why are they still holding?
Must make a hard choice soon to stay in the market or exit forever. Chances are it will get even worse. America is not your dad's country any more and proves it more every day.
The shareholders may give ARCC approval by proxy vote to sell shares less than the NAV. This may have a negative effect on thinking. The period ended March 31, 2010 showed NAV to be $11.78. The ALD integration in the next financial release will show a much higher NAV. Depending on what one perceives that number will be could directly influence the attractiveness of buying ARCC stock. Why buy above NAV when it may be possible to buy for less than NAV? This could be the reason the stock is drifting lower. Buying an asset for less than its worth is very attractive.
after seeing what happened to ALD once shareholders voted No to a proposal for ALD to sell shares under NAV,
ARCC shareholders should learn from that mistake and ratify the ability for ARCC to sell under NAV.
I'd rather a little dip because of it being permitted than a collapse because ARCC's hands are tied.
