I read in the Chicago Tribune recently that 97% of Comed (EXC in Chicago area) used to use them for their electricity supplier. Now that number is under 60%. It is cheaper to use alternative suppliers currently. I save about 15% on the electricity supply portion of my bill. As long as nat gas and coal prices are low, there will be opportunity to undercut Comed, but Constellation gives them kind of a natural gas hedge. Nuclear power isn't particularly competitive in the short term. Over the long term, pricing should improve and the advantage of alternative suppliers will decline.
