Called local NAPA independant Store for price on a radiator fan blower motor.
Quoted to me 55.95 plus tax and said there was a warranty but not sure what.
Went in to town to pick up.
Passed an autozone and went back and went in.
bought a Siemens for 30.45 plus tax and got a lifetime warranty on the motor.
There is more than one rebuilder. I sell material for rebuilding these items. I see my customers get in 1000s of alt or mtrs etc..for rebuilding. Some of them have to use certain quality materials to meet standards of say a NAPA, while others who might supply to Autozone or others might say use the lowest cost material you can get buy with and still meet the min standards exceptable in the industry.
I simply resent these idiots that come here posting their stupid comments based on nothing worthwhile.
I agree with the gent earlier about replacing the part. I would rather get a quality replacement and pay more than a lower quality and have to come back later. I mean most repair places get around $75 an hour now for repair work and of course charge you the book min work time regardless of the actual labor cost. I just had my caddie worked on: parts wer $387 and labor was $610.
I have been a mechanic for 33 years. If I have a customer that only wants the cheapest part, or if I am fixing a car just to sale then I go get the cheapies at Autozone. When however I am working on my own car or those of my family, or valued customers, then I always get the good stuff from NAPA. Also If you want the cheapest part ask for it, NAPA many times also has a cheaper part they will sell you a if thats what you want. Autozone does indeed have lifetime warranties on many of their parts, and they usually change them out without any hassel, but they dont pay for having a mechanic change out the part. Theres nothing like paying a mechanic $50 a shot to keep changing out a $30 part. In the end result you usually get what you pay for.
I have worked for several parts suppliers. Those that supply NAPA also suuply AZO. The price difference at the street is all a matter of negotiations and cost to bring the part to the local market.
Hey sidebolt, How many parts manufacturers do you think there are? Everybody buys from everybody and packages in any box you want. Napa does not make thier parts, they just know how to charge you more for them.
