Breaking News - RIMM told the WSJ after the close today that they added a RECORD 1 Million Subs this QTR!! Press release in the morning, shorts!!

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB117309086917426832.html?mod=yahoo_hs&ru=yahoo

--- "RIM, whose BlackBerry email devices and service dominate the U.S. corporate wireless market, has been a darling with investors who believe it will continue to dominate its corporate niche while signing up new customers too. RIM yesterday said it added a record one million subscribers in its most recent quarter."

They've basically updated guidance for the current QTR - It will be a blowout!

    • thanks for posting 2 days old news again.
wsj writeup has been there since monday.
people are desperate to push this pos up.

    • So we now know RIMM has already calculated the Options Restatement amount - that's water under the bridge. Updating the financials will take time, but that's not going to change the recent quarter or next quarter.

The key thing is looking forward and earnings growth is tremendous with the new subs growth.

Recall in the Sept 28th earnings statement, they said they added 705,000 subs in the qtr and then had 6.2M subscribers total. If they're adding 1M subs per qtr, that's a substantial fraction of the existing total, even considering attrition.

BB Pearl is wildly popular, so RIMM is in the sweet spot right now.

    • Your reasons for the stock staying up are very good and there are many others. I wish Shorts could understand how far this could rocket on next earnings, not to mention what could happen before that, if there is ANY kind of good news at all.

    • Analysts must be reviewing their earnings estimate models as we speak to incorporate much higher subs and blackberry sales...

Hmmm (expect a stealth upgrade by a first-tier firm in the next few days that'll broadside RIMM shorts).

    • Do you think they're honest??

    • I think we'll see short-covering as we go towards the close today. Why be short in a steeply oversold market that is rebounding?

Smart money shorted 6 days ago.

      Dumb money is still short.

    • Sure, there are customers who already own BB's who may have decided to subscribe, and that doesn't add net BB sales, but then there will continue to be new BB purchasers who use BB's as PDA's, so when subs go up, BB sales go up.

Your argument is so pathetically weak when you state that more subs than expected this qtr Do NOT translate into more BB sales. Give it up, shortie!

You're just a worried short, grasping to myths and illogic in order to justify your losses from shorting at $119.

    • Who...

Do the math... or is multiplication and division too difficult for you?

I explained the math above. If you can't calculate it, then stop trading.
