Clearly, RIMM is not looking to take a bite out of Apple; only to gain a niche, or rather keep a niche, and they have a good shot at that, FIPs is a big part of that strategy, not just for gov't but for security minded business. You are missing the point re RIMM, most people are. They waved the white flag a long time ago in the NA retail SmPh battle (and to a lesser extent in Europe as well). They blew it, never even dreamed there was a retail market waiting for SmPhs. What they want now is to keep their niche market in NA (in order to keep the doors open to future changes in market taste), as well as a firm footing in developing markets. Seriously, RIMM isn't at $60 or $40 or even $20. Your comments (more accurately, sentiment) would make sense at that price. But at $8? I guess we'll see.
