I was able to track where I was exactly, including altitude with the Playbook app Osmand using GPS. Trick is, you have to sit by the window. First put the playbook against the window for about 15 sec to acquire the GPS, then just follow your position on the offline map. I have downloaded a bunch of offline map along my route. Really cool.
A 70 year old lady sitting next to me who had just bought a iPad4 yesterday in Rochester asked me if her iPad can do the same. I said, likely not as it doesn't support offline map. But around the States with WiFi will work fine. I did not bother to explain to her about the iLost problem.
I went through the whole spill about the advantage of the Playbook and its price. She said I wouldn't want to know how much she paid for hers with support and extended maintenance, ~$800. I have two Playbooks on me, all total $300 + tax :)
