BB10 OS update improves battery life, low light photos and more
BlackBerry has released a system update for the BlackBerry Z10, improving performance in several areas for users who picked up the smartphone in the last month.
Specifically, BlackBerry says the 10.0.10.85 update brings better third party app performance, immensely improving them for a smoother experience. The camera has also been optimized for better low-light photos, among other BlackBerry-default apps.
Battery life has been improved "with over 60 battery saving improvements since launch to keep you moving," according to the folks in Waterloo. Additionally, the company says BlackBerry Z10 users should see a longer average usage per charge cycle. It's worth nothing, in our review of the Z10 we found poor battery life.
The update sounds like a must on account of the several enhancements that are included. BlackBerry Z10 users can install the update by going to Settings Software Updates Check for Updates and complete the process by following the on-screen directions.
Kevin also wanted to point out that at this time updates are pushed out by carriers. So if you have a factory unlocked BlackBerry (like the pre-release models or ones that came unlocked at the Launch events, etc.), the updates you receive will be based on your SIM. So if you're in Canada on Rogers/Telus with a factory unlocked unit, you may have received an update. If you're in the USA, not yet. - crackberry
