You have to be crazy to short this stock right right.... very little downside potential and extremely massive upside. If you want to get a good idea of the number we will be seeing on the upcoming quarterly report think about this... After the BB10 launch presentation CEO Heins was asked if they would possibly have supply issues, he replied that they have produced a lot more phones than they estimate they will need for the lauch just in case the demand happens to be much more than expected. Now they are having supply issues and there are waiting lists for the z10. Heins has now stated that they are selling much more thatn anticipated. So the question is now how many phones do you think they initially produced knowing that they have 79 million bbry users that have been itching to get there hands on these new devices???? Do be a fool, buy and keep buying. Dont pay attention to the negative news article about nonsense, they get paid by advertising, this stock is hot and they dont have any news coming from the company to talk about so they will write about anything that will get them hits.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
How many of these users are in India, Indonesia, and Egypt? They cannot afford a $800 phone. They are mainly in Blackberry for messenger service. Average price of a phone in India is $35. Carriers do not subsidize phones there.
I think Blackberry is history. I was the happiest person the day I gave up my Blackberry for Iphone!
Don't worry Sarah, there is a growing affluent market in India and the east. The BlackBerry brand is respected as a great product worldwide. Don't forget they will continue to sell hundreds of thousands of cheaper BB7 units there for some time to come. I'm sure your Iphone looks lovely with your purse. You may want to try the white BB10.
Shorts seem to forget that bbry does not have to be perfect to be successful. It just needs to capture around 5% of the market to be very profitable, which is easily achievable. Even in the last quarter, they did not burn any cash. In fact, they had positive cash flow.
79 million X $200 (realistic average profit per unit) = 15.8 billion!!! And they are saying that 50% of buyers are new users or switching from iphone / android. Could possibly have sales of 150 million in the next year, thats what iphone does each quarter so not really unrealistic. This phone could take off and be wildly popular with the general public. forget security , people want to new best thing, they are sick of iphone.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Whoa. Way over optimistic. Only a portion of those users will upgrade to the expense of smartphone, existing contracts, etc. I think estimates might be 15-20M users. A lot of good work can be found on estimated slaess. Most are in the 15-20M region, which would good. 30M better. I'd like to see a surprise ramp to 40M by this time next year. That would be a phenomenal close..
