Lenovo is in talks with "UNIDENTIFIED" smartphone maker, not NEC
No other details are given but here are some facts:
1. Lenovo announced a massive debt raise of $1 to $2 billion in US$ denominated currency very recently. Why the US$ currency raise if not for a target in North America?
2. Lenovo is looking for a smart phone maker with enterprise presence.
3. Lenovo wants to penetrate North American market
4. Lenovo has mentioned BB in the past as a potential candidate
you are wrong, the west has always been demonizing China and brainwashing its citizens about how bad it is, it is clearly not the case if you have visited the country itself. We live in a global world now and staying in the pigeon hole known as united states and still viewing the rest of the world through a colored lens will not be good for you or the country in the long run. The world is evolving and we better evolve with it.
What else should they raise, Yen, Euros? I am hoping Blackberry is involved but if it turns out to be NEC or someone else, that spells doom for this stock as the only catalyst of late that's been propping it is the potential of an acquisition and Lenovo was the only company that expressed interest and if they decided to look elsewhere, then they must know something more than we do and could also explain the price action of late...
Yes, they would not raise US$ for sure to acquire a #$%$ company that does not trade on US exchanges. Also, if you believe that BB share price is supported by Lenovo rumours and is about to deflate because of this news, then I must say you are a newbie to this BB game.
Quite on the contrary, this starts the rumour mill again tomorrow and will re-flate the share price to coincide with a run-up prior to earnings release.
