"Irish State May Seize Full Control of AIB This Week, Post Says" (link)
"Ireland may use new powers to take full control of Allied Irish Banks Plc as early as this week and will probably DELIST the lender, the Sunday Business Post said, citing unidentified people in the government." (emphasis added)
There will be a bifurcation, but not that quickly; the EARLIEST it could be is the day after the government steps in to take over AIB, and then only if there are no signs that a similar takeover is planned for BoI.
I just put down "sell" orders: take what margin I have left when the markets open, and hopefully repurchase under a dollar in the near future. Today's good news has been absorbed by panic; plus, if the unsourced Reuters report mentioned earlier is true, BoI is probably about to announce a rights issue, or some other dilutive effort at private equity raising to complete their capitalization requirements. The time to buy back in is after that goes through.
Sorry guys: I hung tough all last week, but I think it's gonna take another Hail Mary to reverse this downtrend. I don't doubt that there's one in the offing, but I think I'm just gonna take my chips, lie back, and wait for it.
