There were some discussions on this board a few weeks ago about China and more specifically CSGH taking mining positions in this country. If I recall correctly it was CSGH that was going to open a mine here. Some were going to research this and a few were also contemplating their long term interest in this asset as a result of this crisis. I was wondering if there was any follow up on this discussion. I am starting a position in this stock and would welcome further discussion on this topic as it is a concern of mine as well. Thanks.
The Congo is a big country. The mine is nowhere near the fighting. Just check google maps. The fighting is in the north Congo. The mine is located in the bottom of the country. This is about 800 miles away from each other.
iindelco-this is the least understood part of csgh. as u have read in q's they offer very little insight to capitol expenditures and i question if the basics(electricity for example) are availible, and basic infastructure(transportation) to mine site. but, if viable, as we would have to assume, it could be a very strategic move. they must know, we hope, that they will do the right investment. if they bail, i would not be surprised, but if they proceed as they indicate in last q, i believe they have an opportunity that out weighs the negatives. lots of guesswork on my behalf, so jmo.
cburgs, Thanks for the toughts. As you indicate there is not much info. on this piece.
I would also like to better understand the humanitarian piece of this as well. From what little I have read the African/Chinese thing has not been very positive in the area. That being said I am not that well read on the subject but do wish to include this in my decisions. I realize this is a very difficult place in the world to do business but I don't want to totally disregard this factor. As one of the billions of peasants in the world I'm not in favor of profits at any cost. And no I'm not pushing this as a consideration for anyone else. I have no interest in taking the moral high ground on this topic. It's a factor for me.
