Massive flow tales being bandied about. Finally. Validation and proof of concept over. Just waiting for official announcement. Cat is out of the bag.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
The rig at DJ2 (Rowan EXLIII) is a jackup rig used in open water up to 500' (and cost big bucks). Highlander (and the proposed Highlander II location) is onshore (land/marsh). No way the EXLIII will drill Highlander II.
If the tusc/carbonates were a "wash" at DJ2 (as rumors have suggested), I'm perplexed as to why they wouldn't just move up hole and test the Wilcox now while everything is in place at DJ2???? Doesn't make sense.
Sorry to disappoint, but the well was TA'd this week according to a filing with the now renamed MMS. If you read the report filing it also notes the presence of H2S in the wellbore...........for those unfamiliar it means...................any and all testing has ceased and the well has been Temporarily Abandoned. The definition of a PIONEER................they are the ones with arrows in their backs..........and Jim Bob is without doubt one of the greatest pioneers in the O&G business. Am a little surprised IR @ FCX did not get out in front of this with a news release or SEC Filing as this is a MATERIAL EVENT (or non-event)...............For those interested the filing is a public record and available for viewing.
crysball2 - can you supply the link? I've checked the BOEM site's well reports and the latest available is the 5/10 report which doesn't show any H2S/T&A information:
DJ2 API well number is 177074090900.
