Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. Message Board

    Reality Check

All this unfounded speculation of a KREM/SBUX
deal makes no business sense whatsoever.

    Why
exactly would they merge? Because doughnuts go good with
coffee? Motor oil goes well with cars, but I haven't
heard Ford calling Quaker State. Mike goes with
cookies, so why hasn't Shamrock Farms called
    Keebler?

Get real people. Krispy already has it's own coffee
products, and Starbucks would much rather sell people their
$99 biscotti and cookies than a Krispy Kreme. That is
assuming that Starbucks would rather not reduce their
profit margins by about 75% (I know, It's a big
    assumption on my part).

For the long longs who plan
on putting their shares under a mattress for 10yrs,
    they will be just fine.

    For the near term, as
the initial hype begins to fade, so to will the stock
price. IMHO, this doughnut is way to saturated to remain
    afloat.

Good luck to the long longs.

    • I have seen this before. Many posts screaming
that the stock is too high or the PE is out of whack
or the business model stinks... whatever. This stock
looks like the next snapple. Does anyone remember
Snapple? The stock went to the moon after the original IPO
and was slammed by the shorts all the way up. It
eventually fell out of bed but not before it left a heap of
short seller margin calls in it's wake. Snapple was
competing with Pepsi, Coke, and some of the biggest juice
brands in the world. The big reason I do agree with the
shorts at this time is that the supply of stock is just
not in the market. When the lockup is removed then
maybe you might have something but until the supply is
visable, the stock will forge higher. IMHO.

    • For KREM longs, today was a taste of what you'll be seeing more often over the upcoming weeks. Down she goes...
