I'm inclined to believe his logic. Between the Pubit service that was announced for summer and we're still waiting on (why?), and the new Nook sales areas being put up in stores, IMHO Barnes and Noble must have some big, Nook-related plans for the near future. Factoring in the shareholders meeting on the 28th, and the apparent lack of response from B and N to the Kindle 3, I'm even more convinced.
I do hope he's wrong about the exact release date, though. Nobody is clueless enough to launch a product on 9/11.
I think it is a little more off, probably more likely an october release. The Nook 2 last hit the rumor fan back in July when FCC papers were filed for it. http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/2010/07/new_barnes_noble_nook_3g_fcc_report.html The only thing revealed by the papers were a cheaper 3G modem and wifi component. To make the devices cheaper to produce. I would expect a new sapphire e-ink display that both Kindle 3 and the new Sony's have. This guy is purely speculating here. There is a 180 day not disclosure agreement on the insightful FCC papers which would tell us more about the nook2, but supposedly a picture of nook1 was used in the filing, so no major changes to appearance then. I'm excited to see and learn about it when it finally shows itself.
