I was very positive on BKS just two weeks ago, but became not so positive after I bought NOOK HD.
It was my first NOOK tablet. I knew that it has very good hardware but limited apps when I decided to buy it. However, what I did not expected is that it does not support foreign language.
My first ebook bought from NOOK shop is a Chinese - English dictionary, but I just found that NOOK cannot display Chinese. It was really a surprise to me. NOOK uses Android, and Android supports Chinese by itself. I did some research on web, and found out that the earliest NOOK version does support Chinese, then they disabled Chinese support in 2010.
Apparently, this is a business decision, not a mistake by software engineer. Despite a lot of complains of not being able to support non-latin language, the management insist on turning customers away.
The NOOK is for selling e-content, and NOOK's e-content stores operate only in the US and UK. It will launch in at least eleven foreign markets in the next year, all in Europe, with Germany, the Netherlands, and France being likely new markets. There is no cause for them to offer anything in Chinese.
