But perhaps they should not!
If BKS makes
its move into the NET, and now that Uncle Sam has
shut off at least one avenue this may be the way to
go, they should look to buy up properties like
Egghead dot com or Navarre (no, I don't own stock in
either) so they can expand their "entertainment"
offerings and keep their core.
Make no mistake Mr.
Thigpenn, Leonard Riggio would love to bury AMZN,
eventhough they don't really compete as much as many people
think, and he may want to bury them on their own turf;
the internet/e-commerce/cyber turf.
meantime, we still have a solid retailer here to work (and
I believe grow) with.
bet that this guy is going to come out fireing as
soon as he can.He is probably sitting around right now
talking to analysts, getting new tv spot
commercials, etc.Lets hope he gets a few on cnbc and the nightly
business reports.I want to see him on the attack as if he
were pre-hyping an ipo, like he did prior to when it
was delayed.I understand that he was keeping quiet
due to deals pending and now they are forced to keep
quiet but just because you are quiet does not mean that
you cannot network some influence with the wall
street powerhouses.Atleast I hope not.When I sign in to
aol ,I see their advertisements.I don't see that
influence from amzn.Analysts may turn there heads now but
when they see an explosion in book sales via our
dominated portals they will think otherwise.Lets hope
atleast.I don't like being wrong and I really don't think I
am,this is painfull and painfull for management
themselves.Atleast we have them in our boat.
I've been Cost Averaging BKS for the last year
and a half -WAITING AND WAITING for this Great
company with Great fundamentals, a Great history and
Great potential to make a significant move . . . . but
it just hasn't managed to succeed. I am a patient
man but this company (and it's new IPO) have been a
sour disappointment, so far.
cdnow! IMHO. this is just my hunch. but it would
be quite an attack on amazon. they could link the
two web sights bnbn and cdnow, even promote the
sights from the brick and mortar stores. let me know
what you guys think.
