    Boeing 737

    Did any of you realize that 19 out of 60 aircraft in Fly's fleet are B737s? That's about 32%. I imagine they all have to be reinspected for stress fractures, but will they all pass or not? Leasees are responsible for routine inspections, according to the latest annual report, but this wound not necessarily be routine. So who will pay, and what about planes failing the testing?

    Is this issue causing the drop today?

    • The problem 737 was a model 300. They stopped making them a decade ago. The modern replacements for the 737-300 and 400 are the 700 and 800. They are drastically different airplanes that are being bought today.
      When a plane has had 30,000 pressurazations - they All need to be inspected.
      The short haul aircraft in Hawaii were all inspected after one of them had a hull failure.
      For me - I will make sure I am going on a 737-700 of 800 is all.
      FLY has no 737-300 or 400's. AYR has some and they are converting some of them to cargo planes in which they reinforce and reskin the planes. My guess is soon they will have more planes to retrofit.
      American airlines is still operating that are a generation(airplane generation) older then the 737-400 but they retrofit all of them.

    • All old aircraft (not just 737s) need to be inspected for stress fractures. You will also notice that only Southwest has pulled their aircraft for inspection because it is only their inspection process that appears to be failing. This isn't a 737 issue, it is a maintenance issue. 737's just happen to be the best selling aircraft of all time so you will see issues for them more often on a count basis.
