Sell in May and go away sounds like a good idea at this point. I think it is safer to raise some cash and wait out the summer. We have already seen some hedge funds "black swaning" small caps at the end of this 2 year move.
I've got cash waiting for Sept/Oct. Should be plenty of decent values by then. It's hard for me to find stocks I want to own for a 3 to 5 year period at these valuations.
Salut Jaque , i ageee , Musk i think is a little over bullish at this point, but he could be right or maybe not...I used sell in may and go away last year, bought back midway june and it worked wonders. so much that this year i pulled the plug early and i sold 50% in the last month..still holding "my" long term core holdings ko.TOT.PM.T.PFE.msft.
I have dipped my toes options on the vix/vxx...the more we go up the more vix i will buy.GL
Good moves Arwen, I look around and I just can't find anything I like at the right price. I'm certainly bullish on stocks, just not at these valuations. I may be wrong, but in the past, putting money to work when the general market has sold off is the way to go.
I will hold my core since I tend to hold positions for many years. I think it is important to lock in a low cost basis. Thats just how I run things since I'm more value conscious than your average momentum player. Nothing wrong with momentum, but it's not in my personality.
