Of all the business that Cenveo owns, ONLY labels are viable. Envelopes, documents are crap. Out of all the types of printing ONLY Label printing WILL survive.
Books, magazines, newspapers, documents, envelopes and anything but labels is almost extinct.
If Cenveo expects to make any money, they need to drop everything and put money into their label business.
They are! Where have you been? The label shops do ocasionally get upgrades and new equipment, however its too little too late in this game, they hire big corporate exec, formerly from the label industry and send them through the plants to report what needs to be done to increase productivity. I have to say most of them are good and imediately see the problems but their hands are tied. All the managers left at this level are yes men just trying to keep there jobs. All the people who were quality people have moved on once cenveo capital management started screwing them. It can not survive until there is a change at the top. It will continue to get worse. Get out if you can
True that labels are a positive but they are becoming redundant. More and more you will see direct application systems supplant labels. These systems enable direct printing of labels with 3D barcodes and almost unlimited info including time and date, production equipment, serial number on the fly and so on with immediate post print verification. This is much more comprehensive and secure than labels. Prime labels are a somewhat different story but I am not sure CVO is in that business.
