      • What a travesty. This was once a great business and very profitable. Pre Mailwell, this plant had its own sales, marketing, finance, and engineering departments.
The business was started by two DuPont engineers that envisioned a market for Tyvek envelopes in the late 60’s or early 70’s. They mortgaged their homes to buy an antiquated envelope company (International Envelope) in Philadelphia. They relocated to Aston PA and started the first converting business dedicated to Tyvek envelopes. They grew sales from next to nothing to ~$70 MM in a few years, one partner sold to the other and later he sold to a holding company.
The company relocated from the small 40M sq ft plant in Aston to a much larger facility in Exton. The business was sold twice more, eventually ending with MW. After the Burton hostile takeover everything changed. Some, like me, saw the writing on the wall and got out.
I breaks my heart to see what happened to this once thriving business.
My heart goes out to the QP Exton staff that will be out of work in about 8 weeks, good luck to all.
