Both Mcdermott & Babcock & Wilcox are tight with Bechtel. Bechtel just received the Mozambique LNG plant contract, and they are partners with BWC in m-power. Both companies are takeover candidates for Bechtel.
Bachtel has built a third of all LNG plants built in the world. Laying offshore pipes and offshore would help them dominate further this growth industry. They can do more with Mcdermotts assets than Mcdermott can do alone.
