Per Retinafellow's comments, I would think most of the 1200 were eval's. Per RF, SURG doesn't have the resources, manpower, or legal acumen to deal with Alcon and its dark arts. BTW: Alcon was just caught shipping product to Iran in violation of sanctions. Nice bunch of folks over there (or is it the morally upstanding Swiss masters).
I understand the market a bit better now. All those users/evaluators should ask themselves whether they really want the few remaining Alcon competitors to bite the dust. Hello monopoly pricing and goodbye technological innovation. Yes, they can't get out of contracts, but those must expire eventually.
Also, there must be a market for portable machines. I know docs who float through satellite offices, not all of which are properly equipped. Would it not make sense for them to have the machine handy?
All that said, SURG has too many disadvantages. Why not at least attempt to sell the company?
