Columbia professor of anthropology, Nicholas DeGenova said, "The only true heroes are those who find ways that help defeat the U.S. military." He added that he would like to see "a million Mogadishus."
Let's see, the Red cross said there were 1000 killed & 2000 wounded Somalians in that midday raid. That adds up to about 3 billion casualties for a million Mogadischus. Dr DeGenova sure is blood thirsty. And if I remember right, 28 or 29 of 32 people on a list were captured and gotten out with just one wounded. That will between 80 & 90 thousand bad guys took care of.
The bad thing about this raid was Clinton threw away about 16 KIA, 70 to 80 WIA & a POW, by making like this successful mission was a failure. The US casualities were high but they accomplished what they set out to do. Clinton did not understand a Ranger will continue on his mission, "even though I be the lone survivor" & you can be sure Delta is the same. In one of the issues, around 1995?, of "Patrolling", the 75th Ranger Assn publication was a list of Rangers killed in training since they were reactivated in mid seventies after Vietnam deactivation. More than 16 had been killed in training to serve our country.
I hate to see American soldier deaths and was hoping for a Baghdad surrender & not a long fight, to prevent a slaughter of the enemy. Evidently Dr DeGenova doesn't have any compassion for anybody in the world. If Columbia was a state supported university, he shouldn't have a job. It's a private school, so the students' parents should be let know what this guy said.
