Pfizer Inc. Message Board

  • veqlwh veqlwh Sep 22, 2004 8:15 AM Flag

PFE...a bargain or just a plain dud?

    (from Yahoo earnings estimate
    "EPS Trends Current Qtr
    Sep-04 Next Qtr
    Dec-04 Current Year
    Dec-04 Next Year
    Dec-05
    Current Estimate 0.54 0.59 2.12 2.37 "

Using Yahoo estimate of 2.12 for 2004 then PFE would have a P/E of 14.6
    and for 2005 of 13

For pfe these are unusually low P/E and well under the s&p and ^drg P/E's

With a strong balance sheet (and low debt) I believe, even with poor mgmt, that the reward-risk factor has moved in favor of reward. The reward side would jump dramatically with mgmt restructuring ....particularly the very top mgmt.

    • What do you fu*king know about Pfizer's senior Management ?

I'm sure you would do so much better...

The environments have never been more hostile towards the industry and people are just not willing to recognise the value it brings to society and the economy... until they or their loved ones get seriously ill and need innovative drugs !

The whole sector is suffering in an unprecedented manner due to the hurdles that are placed on its path by short-sighted politicians. The PUBLIC should understand and vote differently next time.

Pfizer is acting as an industry leader, in great part due to the clarivoyance of its senior management.

If you stopped counting your miserable beads and looked at the big picture you would understand... and do something about it ! You too will be ill some day and praise Pfizer (and other big pharma) !

      Loser !

    • Good points.
I did buy some additional March 2005 calls and hope they can double in 45 days.
We will see when the numbers come out.
I still believe PFE will restate their numbers and if so this goes up at least
      $ 2/share.
Even with poor leadership, PFIZER has too much to be around $31/ share.

Maybe they should have been PUTS.

      • I would like to applaud posters like you and veqlwh who address issues that are relevent to the PFE board, rather than using the board to vent their spleen solely on their personal political viewpoints and just about anything else other than PFE related issues. I think many of these topics are interesting and some are thought provoking, but, in my opinion, they should not be discussed on this board. I am pleased that there are least a few people like yourself and veglwh whose posts deserve to be read by those of us who think this board should be used to discuss PFE related issues.

      • I am hoping at this point PFE is a bargain. Looking at the 50 day and 200 day moving average, PFE has much upside. Also, if you look at its trading trends and 1 and 2 year charts, it appears that support for this stock is about $30.30 with resistance around $36.

Also, you can not discount the pipeline and low P/E going forward.

Any good news should lift this stock back to $32 almost immediately.

    • I believe,even with poor mgmt,
