Superior methods never lose more than 8% on any stock

& never anything at all on an entire portfolio. First rule is to preserve capital.

Always trail a stop loss & usually hedge with options, but don't base an entire vehicle on rolling them with insane leverage & no diversification.

Any average or inferior investor can lose 140% on his or her main investment & 50-100% on the remainder of a portfolio. Superior methods are to be patient before buying or shorting, cut losses & let winnings run, but take profits along the way & never, ever abuse margin. It's only there so that you can take advantage of a perceived good deal until you can transfer in more funds within three days.

No matter if you're able to restore your losses, anything over 8%, particularly for years, is an inferior method.
