Pfizer almost always announces its dividend increase for the upcoming year on the Monday that precedes December options expiration.
This year, that falls on Monday, December 12. The odds are overwhelming that the annual dividend at that time will be increased from 80 cents to 88 cents.
The company is on record as saying that they are gradually increasing the percentage of non-GAAP earnings payout until it gets to about 40%. That would mean a 96-cent payout in the year 2013 when non-GAAP earnings are expected to be about $2.40 a share.
So the pattern of 8-cent annual dividend hikes that began in 2010 should continue through at least 2013 with the announcement for the upcoming year coming on the Monday before options expiration.
