Closeout of BAC Nov. 5-strike naked puts

Bought back 200 BAC Nov. 5's for an average of $72.70. Net cost after commissions of $14,680. The options had originally been sold for $24 each on Aug. 25 and so this transaction resulted in a loss of $10,020 for the six weeks I held it. I'll likely sell replacement options tomorrow.

    • I use Paper-Mate pens and the ink does indeed fade over time. Who was to know that they weren't FOT pens.

And often the clay tablets crack as well, making the cuneiform markings difficult to read.

    • STFU, Ruffnuts, & get back to deleting messages & rating them dozens of times each.

    • who cares

    • Yup. Rump wrangler Ruffnuts waits for the humans to leave the board, then starts furiously one starring all the betters' messages & five starring those of his trusty steed, Alan.

For the life of me, I don't know of anyone who is as boisterous as you about the ratings of messages. You seem to think that it's your God given right to have five stars affixed to your numerous and stoopid aliases.

Most readers here know that you are rating your own messages. The number of stars your messages get mean absolutely zilch as anyone with an ounce of brain knows that self-rating is a complete waste of time and effort. The best messages on this board are those of Chartness and Hotpanera. Most of the others are only worth a scan.

We, of course understand your hostility towards the affable Ruffnuts. He's creating tons of work for you trying to maintain your five star rating.

      Way to go Ruffnuts.

    • calculating returns

      $14,680 cost
      $10,020 loss
      $10,020 divided by $ 4,660 = 2.15
thats a 215% loss in six weeks or an annualized loss of 1,863%

      ASTOUNDING RETURNS!!!

Sold 200 BAC Nov. 5-strike naked puts for $23 apiece. Net proceeds after commissions of $4,465. The cash deposit required was $14,800 and so if the margin-safe price of $5.60 holds (the stock is $8.05 now), the nominal return will be 30.2%. With 12.0 weeks to go to expiration, the return would be 2.52% per WEEK.

These kind as astounding returns given the 30% downside safety to the margin-safe point are just too great to overlook. By the time January rolls around, BAC will be one of my BEST profit-makers in the naked put-writing portfolio. I envision about 20K in profits on an average daily investment of about 40K for the 14 months from mid-November 2010 until the Jan. 2012 expiry. The nominal return will be about 50% and the annualized return over 40% if the stock holds above the $5.60 margin-safe point. I am now short 1,200 BAC naked puts with 800 of them being 4-strikes and 400 of them being 5-strikes. Only 200, however, are beyond November expiration which is only twelve weeks away.
