It's because of folks like me who have reachec the Medicare doughnut hole. I just had my monthly prescription filled - this time for generic Atorvastatin. I balked when the pharmacy wanted to charge me $115 for a one-month supply as I know that I'm now eligible for the 50% discound on branded drugs extended to seniors in the doughnut hole.
The pharmancy went on to explain that that 50% discount is ONLY for branded drugs and however expensive a generic might be, there is only a slight discount of something like 7%.
I asked them to forget about the Atorvastatin and prepare a month's supply of branded Lipitor instead. After they did that, the tab to me came to just $79 - not $115.
Obviously there will be few in the 2012 doughnut hole early in the year so this phenomenon won't apply. But it most definitely applied in December, the first month that generic Atorvastatin as available.
> I don't remember that at all. And I have a memory like a steel trap.
And there were many more prior to that.
You show again and again that your memory is practically non-existent.
