Will Pfizer top management repeat Lipitor blunder(Warner Lambert purchase) with VASCEPA --Amarin purchase
Pfizer top management sat back in 1996 or 1997 or 1998 --and did not buy Warner Lambert which had Lipitor's patents. Pfizer was marketing Lipitor.
It was in 1999,when American Home Products (now called Wyeth) made binding deal to acquire Warner Lambert, then Pfizer top management woke up and bid 82 bil.$ for WL initially -upping to 90 bil.$ and paying 1.8 bil.$ to AHP for Breakup fees.
Vascepa is another drug by Amarin--which holds the potential to be 4-6 billion$ sales drug in 2015.
Pfizer could buy it for around 30$/share now or wait till 2015 to buy it for 80$/share when Reduce-It study of 8000 patients worldwide results start to be disclosed.
