My Body Mass Index was between 35 and 40 and I indeed had at least two qualifying morbidity factors (in my case it was high blood pressure and high cholesterol readings). Those with BMI's between 35 and 40 with at least two morbidity factors qualifies to have insurance or government pay the tab. There were no lies needed.
For whatever reason, my surgeon decided to bump up my BMI to 40 by putting my height down at 6'0" instead of the correct 6'2 1/4". That lie on his part was completely unnecessary as I had previously checked out the requirements and found that a BMI of 35 was good enough if there were indeed at least two bona fide morbidity factors.
