The high temp was only 55. It's quite rare to see the high for the day that low. The lowest that I ever remember seeing for the day's high was 52.

It has nothing to do with PFE, dennie and highs in the mid 50's are not at all unusual for LA in December and January. Every single day in those months has had temeratures as cold and colder.
When it gets cold, people become sick, so they need medication.
I would take 52 degrees anytime.
