How the big pharmas are performing

    01) Up 5.5%. PFE (#04 in 2012, #02 in 2011 and #06 in 2010)
    02) Up 4.5%. LLY (#02 in 2012, #03 in 2011 and #05 in 2010)
    03) Up 3.0%. ABT (#03 in 2012, #04 in 2011 and #09 in 2010). Includes ABBV in 2013
    04) Up 2.5%. MRK (#06 in 2012, #08 in 2011 and #03 in 2010)
    05) Up 2.3%. BMY (#10 in 2012, #01 in 2011 and #02 in 2010)
    06) Up 1.9%. AZN (#08 in 2012, #09 in 2011 and #04 in 2010)
    07) Up 1.8%. GSK (#09 in 2012, #05 in 2011 and #08 in 2010)
    08) Up 1.5%. NVS (#05 in 2012, #10 in 2011 and #01 in 2010)
    09) Up 1.4%. SNY (#01 in 2012, #06 in 2011 and #10 in 2010)
    10) Up 1.3%. JNJ (#07 in 2012, #07 in 2011 and #07 in 2010)

Norte: For all of the favorable analyst comment it has gotten, JNJ has been a poor stock performer. While every other pharma has at least been in the Top Five once in the last four years, JNJ was mired in the #7 slot the past three years and now finds itself in the cellar to start the new year.

Note: LLY is the only pharma to be in the Top Five all four years.
Note: Besides LLY, PFE is the only other pharma to avoid being in the Bottom Four in any of the four years
Note: The top three stocks now were all in the Top Four in 2012 and 2011 but none of them were in the Top Four in 2010.

Up 2.6%. Avg. of the ten big pharmas
Up 2.2%. Avg. of PFE's nine big peers
Up 3.2%. Avg. of the six domestic pharmas
Up 2.7%. Avg. of PFE's five domestic peers
Up 1.7%. Avg. of the four European pharmas

    Up 2.8%. S & P 500 (1,426 to 1,466)

    Sentiment: Hold
