The very first thing that I tell prospective clients is that there is no chance whatsoever of this being some kind of scam or Ponzi scheme. That's because no investor turns his money over to me where I can just walk away with it. All that I am given is authorization to conduct trades in the account but what I absolutely do NOT have is authorization to deposit or withdraw funds.
Do you think that TD Ameritrade would ever dream of making out a check IN MY NAME for investments in the private account of the clients? That's the key difference between me and fund managers; I do not manage mutual funds and I send out no end-of-month statements. If an investor wants to know how he is doing, all he needs to do is to check his own private on-line account and he can see within seconds just how he is doing.
I can lose money for clients if I make especially poor investment decisions but no client can ever get SCAMMED out of his or her money.
