    Why Split PFE?

I do not see the point in splitting PFE. I think we knew generics had lower margins when we got into this business.

    Sentiment: Hold

    • "A Closer Look at Pfizer's Three-Way Split" is the title of a Motley Fool article that makes me think there is more going on than just a reorganization. If the article is correct, Pfizer is creating three separate entities that will report finances individually. That means future buyers will have a very easy time doing their due diligence. I have a long term position with a nice capital gain. Time to do some thinking about how long to maintain that position.

    • i haven't seen any stories (yet) about "splitting" the company. what i've seen are stories stating the company is creating different "divisions" within the company with the responsibility of doing different jobs.

      • I worked in major pharma for about 20 years, and I went through four of these charades. In my experience, reorganization was one of the most wasteful, pointless exercises imaginable. Senior managers fight among themselves to get or keep prize positions, initiatives and programs are placed on hold because nobody knows what the priorities are or who sets them. This kind of reorg gives the impression that something positive is happening, but the only ones who benefit are those who draw up org charts. I take this announcement as a distress signal.
